1. CHOOSING THE BOTANICAL
Our scientists are constantly researching new ways to elevate our natural ingredients by combining essential vitamins and minerals with plant-based phytonutrients.
Phytonutrients are secondary plant compounds that plants produce to keep themselves healthy. What’s good for plants is thought to be good for us too.
Therefore, it’s vital to understand plants and their composition. Botanicals have their own distinct characteristics, and each plant has its own ‘fingerprint’, which reflects its phytonutrient and nutrient composition.
1,800 fingerprinted botanicals in our functional target library lead us to the ingredients and ingredient combinations.
2. SELECTING THE SEED
Each seed is different and impacts the quality of the ingredients that go into our products. To ensure high-nutrient content and no contamination, we test our non-genetically modified seeds for their nature, purity and germination rate.
Once the seeds pass the test, we give them a lot number to help us trace them throughout their lives – from seed to plant to food supplement. You could even call it the seed’s own birth certificate.
3. CHOOSING THE FARM
The Nutrilite™ brand owns four farms in North and South America, with a total of 2424 hectares – nearly 6000 acres – of farmland, which is certified organic under US law.
If we can‘t grow the plants ourselves, we find the right partner farms located, in climates that are ideal for growing each ingredient.
We ensure that our partner farms follow sustainable growing methods that are beneficial to their environments and communities. They engage in our exclusive NutriCert™ agricultural certification program to ensure that they meet the high-quality standards for purity, safety and effectiveness.
4. GROWING
We believe that to grow nutrient-rich plants, you don’t need harsh chemicals or pesticides. At our Nutrilite™ farms, we follow sustainable farming practices such as crop rotation and using compost to ensure rich soil.
To further protect our plants during growth, we use good bugs and falcons. They look over our fields and keep bad bugs and other pests away from our crops. We also follow natural weed-control methods that allow our plants to grow healthy and strong without needing to compete for soil, nutrients or water. Managing water well also helps both the plants and the environment.
5. HARVESTING
Our agricultural researchers test to find the best harvest times. On our Nutrilite™ farms, we’re ready to harvest when plants reach high nutritional value.
To preserve the nutrients, prompt drying of the plants is most important, because nutrient levels start declining from the point of harvest. We move the plants from the fields to on-site dryers within as little as 20 minutes. Working quickly also prevents the growth of microbes, giving us pure, safe and effective ingredients.
6. EXTRACTING
Our scientists identify the parts of the plant that hold the highest levels of phytonutrients. Whether it’s the fruit, the flower, the root, or the seed...
We concentrate or extract the relevant parts. No part of the plant is wasted, and any leftover material goes back into the earth – naturally revitalizing the soil.

7. MANUFACTURING
Your safety is our highest priority, and that’s why we conduct 500,000 quality checks on our products throughout the year. This equals one test per minute.
We ensure that our products contain the right levels of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. We always put safety first. We test to ensure the presence of good things and the absence of bad things. Amongst others, our products are tested for contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, foreign material, irradiation, and microbes. As a conscious decision, we do not add any artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners or preservatives. This is how we ensure that Nutrilite™ supplements are pure, safe, and effective.
8. PACKAGING
The packaging is designed to preserve the valuable vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients and protect the food supplement from any damage during transport.
How do we know that the packaging is reliable? We subject it to extreme conditions – shaking, squeezing, and twisting, amongst others. That‘s how we know it can handle anything it faces between our door and yours.
